STREET PASTORS - painting exhibition by Konstantin Konstantinov
Temporary Exhibition Halls
"STREET SHEPHERDS"
The famous young painter Konstantin Konstantinov will open a solo painting exhibition in
City Gallery of Fine Arts - Plovdiv (Temporary Exhibition Halls, 15 Knyaz Alexander I Street) on November 4 at 6 pm.
Canvases in different sizes and styles form his exhibition "Street Shepherds". The artist realizes the exhibition in great creative fullness. Over 50 paintings occupy the gallery space, reflecting the artist's latest achievements. Konstantin works dynamically in contemporary art with a distinctly his own approach and means of depiction.
The individual work carries an individual emotionality and together the works in the exhibition interact in a polyphony of colour and form, says the painter. In "Street Shepherds", he visualizes the richness of minimalism, expressionism, and street art that give rise to the effect of stylistic symbiosis. In this case, the artist's guiding principle is to move from style to style while not running away from himself. For him, each style reflects a different space in the artist's sensibility, and the combination between styles creates creativity.
"Konstantin's work is highly avant-garde, uncompromising, impeccably categorical, without norms or limitations. He shifts immovable horizons, creates a sense of freedom, and the viewer acquires in his mind a space of limitlessness," curator Carolina Panainte analyses his art.
The choice of "Street Shepherds" as the title of the exhibition is further proof of the avant-garde nature of this artist. With this abstract motto, he enters even more forcefully and with a brighter profile into the territory of ethnologia urbana ("ethnology of the city"), combining folkloric archetypes and prototypes with innovations from street art.
Constantin focuses on play in art, significantly influencing the artistic outcome. Often we also find elegant humorous content in his work. It challenges the viewer to look for seemingly invisible signs and meanings in the paintings, to communicate more deeply with them and to be guided by hidden codes that become a challenge to reveal and rediscover what is depicted.
"To master the element of paint" - Konstantin is laconic in his metaphor. He is constantly searching for transformations of thought and each of his expositions comes as an expected event of the new. The exhibition is the first for the artist in the space of the City Art Gallery-Plovdiv. It is a kind of entry into the centre of the art of the millennial city, along which Konstantin moves in the real physical space, and his "Street Shepherds" lead through the spaces of the spirit!
