Presenting the lecture heritage of prof. Dimitar Dimov 
The Library of Agricultural University - Plovdiv

On 2 November at 11.00 a.m. in the Library of the Agrarian University - Plovdiv will be opened the exhibition "Presenting the lecture heritage of prof. Dimitar Dimov". Plovdiv Municipality, Department of Culture, Archaeology and Cultural Heritage, Plovdiv, Bulgaria. Plovdiv, "Hristo Botev" School of Educational and Cultural Heritage, Plovdiv and the National Literary Museum, the Dimitar Dimov House Museum, Sofia.

The name of prof. Dimitar Dimov is emblematic for the history of the Agrarian University - Plovdiv, which was established 75 years ago as the Faculty of Agroforestry at the Plovdiv State University "Paisii Hilendarski" in 1945.

At the end of 1946 Dimitar Dimov joined the Plovdiv University and taught "Anatomy and Physiology of Domestic Animals" at the Agronomy Faculty.

Assoc. Nikola Nestorov, who was Vice-Rector of the University of Science and Technology in the period 1951-1962, donated the manuscript notebooks - Dimitar Dimov's lectures to the National Literary Museum, Dimitar Dimov House Museum. Nowadays, with the advancement of information and communication technologies, these manuscripts can be made available to any student, teacher or amateur of veterinary medicine in both electronic and printed form.

The present exhibition includes 188 pages of manuscript lectures by Prof. Physiology of respiration; Physiology of blood and circulation; Physiology of excretory organs; Physiology of digestion.

The aim is to popularize, preserve and especially in a new way to "return" to where the lectures of Dimitar Dimov, who taught and worked at the Higher Agricultural Institute, came from. They find their rightful place in the Library of the Agrarian University, where in 2021, in connection with the 70th anniversary of the writing of the novel "Tobacco", one of the reading rooms is renamed the "Prof." reading room. Dimitar Dimov".

On 2.11. (Wednesday) the digitized copies of the lectures will be presented. They are placed in display cases specially made for the event.

The digital copies were provided by the Dimitar Dimov House Museum in Plovdiv. The originals will be presented by Dr. Milena Katosheva, Chief Curator, who will be available for viewing on the opening day of the exhibition.

Students from the Department of Animal Science at the Agrarian University - Plovdiv with lecturers Dr. Petar Petrov and Dr. Svetoslav Karamfilov will make a comparison between the lecture plan on anatomy and physiology of domestic animals, which they study today with the one developed by D. Dimov in 1946 (76 years ago).

A film about Dimitar Dimov will be presented, reflecting his creative and teaching period while he lived and worked in Plovdiv.

The event is organized with the financial support of Plovdiv Municipality and is part of the city's Cultural Calendar for 2022.
