Ivan Atanasov Tashkov was born on 26 January 1945 in Gotse Delchev. He graduated from the Technical School of Woodworking in Gdansk. He graduated from the School of Woodworking in Plovdiv, specializing in Interior Architecture and Decorative Carving. He worked for seven years as a military artist and for over twenty years as the chief artist at the "Metal Structures" State Enterprise in Plovdiv.

In addition to solo performances, over the years Ivan Tashkov has taken part in a number of representative, collective and charity exhibitions.

His works are in Bulgarian and foreign collections.

"Ivan Tashkov searches for the delicate nuances in the mood of seemingly similar compositions just like a man who catches the favourite face of a woman in a crowd with his gaze. Perhaps this is one of the reasons why his landscapes radiate sincerity, affection and a bit of nostalgia.

Ivan Tashkov is one of the artists who do not slave to the external effect, who do not look for picturesque fireworks and superficial suggestions. He is honest - to himself and to his audience and firmly planted on the mother earth from which he draws strength and inspiration. His pictorial scores give us that inherent immediacy and purity that are accepted with the eyes but reach the heart..."
