Stara Zagora Art Gallery is hosting an exhibition Myths and Legends in the  2019 Exhibition Hall of City Gallery of Fine Arts - Plovdiv.

In February 2023, the Stara Zagora Art Gallery will host the City Art Gallery - Plovdiv with works from its collection, in fulfilment of the two institutions' long-standing joint exchange exhibition programme.
Starting February 3, 2023, the exhibition will be held in the 2019 Exhibition Hall on Gladstone str., an exhibition of 50 paintings from all editions of the Balkan Quadrennial of Painting Myths and Legends of My People (2004 - 2020) will be on display. The works are owned by the Stara Zagora Gallery. Its director prof. Marin Dobrev emphasizes:

"The history of the Balkan peoples is an organic part of the history of human civilization. Their millennia-long presence in these lands at the crossroads has multiple dimensions. The most fabulous among them are the myths and legends carried through time, where pains and beliefs, sufferings and dreams, imagination and passions intertwine. Diverse and often astonishingly close, they together carry the spirit of the person, the tribe, the community, the ethnicity, the people, the nation. Their re-creation has been linked to the work of artists for centuries. The Balkan Quadrennial "Myths and Legends of My People" is dedicated to their place in the art of our contemporaries. Its invitation is addressed to all artists who seek the visible image of the myths of their people."

The Balkan Quadrennial, held in Stara Zagora, is a competition for contemporary painting. It started in 2004. A total of 5 editions of the competition have been realized so far. The exhibition includes selected works that participated in them. The exhibition can be seen until 28 February.
