The performance "For Love" is based on playwriting texts by Yana Borisova, who in recent years has been one of the most famous and successful playwrights in Europe. Her works have been performed for more than fifteen years to packed houses on numerous theatre stages in Bulgaria and around the world, and she herself has been awarded the Icarus and Asker prizes many times, as well as various international awards. In 2022, Yana Borisova was nominated for all the theatre awards and published a collection of her works, Yana Borisova/Ten Plays. In the same year, the writer was awarded the prestigious Woman of the Year award.
"For Love..." is a dialogue between music and words. On stage will be intertwined the texts of Yana Borisova, performed by famous actors and the theatrical music of maestro Milen Kukosharov - the composer with whom the author has worked in recent years.
The performance " for love..." is a combination of the author's personal memories, which alternate with monologues of her characters. A tender, funny and heartbreaking confession of several people who struggle daily for their right to love and with the horror of loneliness.
Taking advantage of the opportunity given to them to speak freely about their feelings, the characters manage, over the course of an hour and a half, to bring us into their wacky, confused and chaotic love lives and their reflections on them. The main themes and mainstays of these revelations are: family, the right to happiness, human flaws, addictions, shame, and above all love and its consequences.
"I invited a couple of actors that I really like and love - a lady and her three cavaliers. These are extremely talented artists who, as well as respecting me, inspire and excite me, and that's not an easy job. In this show they are all my characters from different plays, written at different times, for different reasons and in different contexts. That's how the playwright manages to bring his characters together to listen to them. I thought that was a lovely idea
Thanks to "for the love of..." we can all open our senses to this vast emotional sea called love...or falling in love. My great passion, my great theme as an author that I will always follow, and it will always be in front of me. Love has to do with survival, the inspiration of living, breathing, joy, and the concept of happiness. It is serious business and it is not for everyone. It is perhaps the only infallible formula so far that has saved humanity. A tremendous element of unparalleled size and power. Which alone turns men into gods and vice versa!
And as a very dear person of mine said, "No one can expose themselves when it comes to love."
