From 7 to 20 March 2023 in the exhibition spaces of the National Library Ivan Vazov, first and second floor, will be on display the exhibition "The image of Don Quixote through the ages". Editions from the collection of the National Library. It is an initiative of the Embassy of Spain in Bulgaria in cooperation with the National Library "St. John of God". The exhibition is a joint project of the National Library of Spain and the Foundation of the Republic of Spain. It comes to Plovdiv in cooperation with the National Library Ivan Vazov. It presents a series of illustrations of the characters and adventures in the novel "Don Quixote", through the interpretation of artists-illustrators who worked on the first editions of the work.
Created to mark the 400th anniversary of the writer's death, the exhibition presents the brilliant work through illustrations by Hayman /1755/, prints from the Royal Academy /1780/ and Gustave Doré /1863/. The exhibition contains a total of 28 prints and 9 panels with information about them. In addition to the National Library, it has been visited in Algiers and the University of Veliko Tarnovo.
