A cross between dance, cinema and sound
What kind of sound effects would you derive from a simple umbrella, a vacuum pump, a basketball, a hammer, or river stones? In cinema, some scenes need additional sound to enhance the impression and impact on the viewer. And you will see some of that magic on stage.
The two performers create authentic soundscapes for film cuts and archive videos – footsteps, screams, splashing water, rustling clothes, nature scenes, and actions that usually cannot be captured by the camera and are separately montaged.
A cross between dance, cinema and sound, the MOS performance is a choreography that unfolds live in front of the spectator. The result is an original soundtrack of cinematic sounds extracted through unusual movements and real-time actions.
The performers become mediators between the scenes and the audience, offering their interpretation of the visible and invisible, the logical and illogical relationships between images, sounds, and movements.
Their mixing provokes the imagination and shows contemporary choreography as a physical soundtrack and a new medium for communication. The resulting material is layered, repeated, distorted, paused, and then exploded so that each viewer can make new connections and associations.
