On 18 June at 20:00 in the courtyard of the Drama Theatre - Plovdiv will be the premiere of the new album of Miroslava Katsarova and Miroslav Turiiski: BEYOND JAZZ.
Mira Katsarova has been observing for years the various metamorphoses of jazz as a style belonging largely to the 20th century. Since the beginning of the new century jazz as a musical genre has developed in different directions. In Mira's words, "music, like other arts, is a reflection of life itself, of the times, of changes."
The legendary Thelonious Monk said that a musician's job is to try to observe life and transcribe it into music. This is exactly what Miroslava Katsarova and Miroslav Turiski have decided to do in their new album, aptly named BEYOND JAZZ.
This time Miroslava Katsarova focuses on interpretations of familiar songs from the recent past, some of which could easily be called "new standards". Among them are "Both Sides Now", "Practical Arrangement", "Samba e Amor", "Human Nature" and others. Songs that tell stories of humility, choices, conscious love, love of urban life, existential wisdom. The album includes two original compositions by Miroslav Turiyski based on lyrics by Mira Katsarova. One of them was specially created for the vocalist's fifth studio album, and the piece is titled "Under the Sky of Plovdiv" as a wink to the city where both artists live and create.
