Traditional Crafts Week
Monday, 22 June – Sunday, 28 June
Regional Ethnographic Museum
More than 30 master craftspeople from across Bulgaria will take part in this year's edition of Traditional Crafts Week. For nearly two decades, the event has been an established part of Plovdiv’s cultural calendar, attracting thousands of visitors from Bulgaria and abroad with its unique format showcasing traditional Bulgarian crafts through live demonstrations and hands-on activities.
The programme includes the official opening ceremony on 23 June at 12 p.m. in the courtyard of the Regional Ethnographic Museum – Plovdiv. On the same day, at 6:00 PM, a guest exhibition from the Republic of Moldova dedicated to traditional folk costumes and the iconic altița embroidered blouse will be officially opened. The evening will conclude with a fashion show featuring contemporary clothing inspired by traditional Bulgarian embroidery motifs.
On 24 June, visitors will have the opportunity to celebrate Enyovden (Midsummer Day) with a traditional ritual, a wreath of medicinal herbs for health and good fortune, and a special musical programme.
Throughout the week, from 22 to 28 June, master craftspeople will demonstrate their skills and conduct creative workshops, offering visitors the chance to experience traditional crafts first-hand.
Traditional Crafts Week is part of the Cultural Calendar of the City of Plovdiv.
