Photo exhibition "You can too"
The team of the Complex for Social Services for Children and Families - Plovdiv, together with the "Mission Wings" Foundation, will celebrate the World Refugee Day with the presentation of the traveling photo exhibition "You Can Too". It will be officially opened on 16 June at 16:00 at the House of the newlyweds.
The opening will be attended by municipal councillor Rumyana Tolova and the founder of the "Mission Wings" Foundation Diana Dimova.
The exhibition tells the stories of ordinary women with extraordinary stories - 12 women from Iran, Syria, Iraq, Nigeria and Afghanistan who passed through the Refugee Accommodation Centre in Sofia. They are the stories of the refugees from Harmanli. Encouraged by the Mission Wings Foundation, the refugees decided to step out of anonymity and share their stories to send a powerful and emotional message to the Bulgarian women.
The idea for the exhibition "You Can Too" was born as a result of the work of the "Mission Wings" Foundation on the ground with refugees and immigrants in the area of the town of Sofia. The project was initiated in the field of migrants and refugees in the area of Harmanli. In communicating with them, representatives of the organization learn about the difficulties that refugees face on a daily basis, while at the same time remaining completely invisible to society and the people around them.
Those wishing to learn more about these extraordinary stories can do it from June 16 to July 3 at the House of Newlyweds.
The exhibition is supported by the Bulgarian Fund for Women and UNICEF - Bulgaria. The occasion for its visit to Plovdiv is 20 June - World Refugee Day, which is celebrated in sympathy and solidarity with the fate of millions of people forced to flee their homeland due to conflict and persecution.
