XIII National Poetry Contest "Dobromir Tonev"

Plovdiv Municipality and Plovdiv Writers' Association, with the assistance of Hermes Publishing House, Janet-45 Publishing House, P. Hilendarski, Mrs. Toni Simidchieva, with the media partnership of BNR - Radio Plovdiv and BNT 2, announce the XIII National Poetry Contest "Dobromir Tonev" for authors up to 45 years of age.

The "Dobromir Tonev" poetry competition is anonymous, the theme - free. Each participant may submit one to three poems. Only works that have not been published in print or on the Internet at the time of the announcement of the competition and with which the candidate has not participated in other similar competitions are eligible.

Those wishing to do so must send their entries by 15 September 2023, inclusive, to. "(The postmark on the envelope is valid.) 

The entries must be placed in a large envelope containing the following:

- the poems (unsigned), printed in triplicate;

- a smaller, unsigned, sealed envelope with the entrant's personal details: full name, full address, permanent address, email and contact telephone number, a short biography, and the titles of the poems entered. If some of the works are untitled, the first line of the work should be written instead of the title.

Submissions must be typed, as well as the information in the small envelope. Applicants who do not comply with the above conditions will not be admitted.

The prize fund, provided by Plovdiv Municipality and partners, is as follows:

From the Municipality of Plovdiv:

- First prize - 800 BGN and a diploma

- Second prize - 600 BGN and a diploma          

- Third prize - 400 BGN and a diploma

Special prizes from partners:

- Cash prize - 200 BGN and a diploma, provided by the Faculty of Philology of P.  Scholarship for a prize. The award will be presented by a representative of the management of the faculty.

- Special prize of Radio Plovdiv - BGN 300;

- Overnight stay for two at the Odeon Hotel - Plovdiv.

 

The ceremony will take place on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at 6:30 p.m., at the Small Early Christian Basilica of Philippopolis, with the kind hosting of the Ancient Plovdiv Municipal Institute. The host will be Vladislav Sevov. The role of the musical host this year will be the distinguished Bulgarian violinist and music teacher Maestro Micho Dimitrov.

The organizers do not bear the expenses related to the travel, stay and accommodation of the participants from other locations invited to receive the awards.

Manuscripts are non-returnable.
