On 18 September 2023 at 18.00 in the Tsar Simeon Garden in Plovdiv opens the documentary exhibition "Modern Times / The work of architect Boyan Chinkov in Asenovgrad".

Architect Chinkov is a significant name in the history of Bulgarian architecture. After graduating from the Higher Technical School in Berlin in 1925, he started a private architectural practice in Asenovgrad and during his extremely productive creative life built over 100 buildings in the regions of Plovdiv, Rhodope Mountain and Thrace.

The exhibition presents in photographs and collages some of his most famous works in Asenovgrad. Some of them lost in time, others happily preserved, giving the image of the city today.

Introducing the Plovdiv audience to this work will contribute to the recognition of the artist as a master of architectural modernism, combining Art Deco, Bauhaus and the outgoing Secession tendencies with the new world ideas and trends in architecture and construction.

The exhibition is situated on outdoor modules next to the Demeter Fountain and runs until 1 October. It was made possible by Stanimashka Fotografchiinitsa Association with the help of Plovdiv Municipality and is part of a project funded by the National Culture Fund under the Socially Engaged Arts 22 programme.
