The well-known artist Zdravko Yonchev will celebrate the 85th anniversary of his birth with a solo painting exhibition in the City Gallery of Fine Arts - Plovdiv.
The opening will be on 26 September (Tuesday) at 18:30 in the Temporary Exhibition Halls. The exhibition runs until October 10 and is free to the public.
Zdravko Yonchev was born on 25 September 1938 in Plovdiv. He studied at the National Academy of Arts in Sofia. Since 1976 he has been a member of the Union of Bulgarian Artists. In 1993, he established one of the first private galleries in the country - Lucas Gallery in the Old Town, Plovdiv, which quickly became a centre of attraction and a meeting place for artists and artists. He is also an illustrator, book designer and cartoonist. For many years he worked as a speaker at Radio Plovdiv.
Zdravko Yonchev is part of the generation of Plovdiv artists along with Yoan Leviev, Dimitar Kirov, Georgi Bozhilov, Encho Pironkov, who contributed with their creative presence to the fame of Plovdiv as a city with a unique artistic atmosphere.
He is a recipient of the Plovdiv Municipality Badge of Honour for his overall contribution to the spiritual life of the city.
His biography includes numerous solo exhibitions and appearances in general presentations in the country and abroad. Among them stand out his participation in the National Autumn Exhibitions in Old Plovdiv, in exhibitions in Sofia, London (UK), Wartburg and Hanover (Germany), n Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, New York (USA) , Rome (Italy). In May 2023 the artist presented his solo exhibition in the centre of the Croatian capital Zagreb.
