On October 13, 2023 (Friday) at 6:00 p.m., the book "Last of His Kind. Dr. Georgi Valkovich (1833-1892)" will be presented in the Regional History Museum - Exposition The Unification of Bulgaria with the author Assoc. Dr. Aleka Strezova.
Dr. Georgi Valkovich is among the most interesting figures in our post-liberation reality. Heir to a large and wealthy family, who lived on the border of two eras, he developed an active professional activity both in the Ottoman Empire and in the Bulgarian Principality. He feels equally competent as an Imperial military doctor, an East Rumelian director, a minister of state, a hospital administrator. But diplomacy is his destiny. Strong mind, strong-willed character, at the same time dialogic and conciliatory, he remains in history as one of the remarkable and irreplaceable diplomats of the new Bulgaria.
