On October 27, 2023, at 6:30 p.m., at the Regional Natural History Museum - Plovdiv, we invite you to a meeting with the author Vladimir Nikolov - paleontologist, paleoillustrator and doctoral student at the National Museum of Natural History at the BAS, who will tell about the history of the book from the birth of the idea to its realization.
"I've wanted to write and illustrate a book about dinosaurs since I was a child. Not even one, but many and different books. I've started more than once, each time in a different format, I've gotten somewhere, and I've abandoned the project. I never imagined that she would be exactly who she is, that she would tell the things she talks about and look the way she does," Vladimir shared on his Facebook profile.
In the seven stories in the book, he traces the story of the third expedition to the Thorn Dinosaur Site, which took place in 2020. The pages bring to life the daily life of scientists, the work and difficulties they face, the methods they use to illuminate the history whispered to them by the ancient bones through the depths of time. For the most curious, a detailed glossary of terms, biographical profiles are included of the participants in the expeditions and numerous photos, diagrams and illustrations with reconstructions of the vertebrates that inhabited Bulgaria during the Late Cretaceous period.
