Celebration of the National Awakeners Day
The project "People's Wakers and I" and the Municipality of Plovdiv organize for the second year in a row a joint celebration of the Day of People's Wakers. The holiday will begin with a procession of students, teachers and representatives of scientific and cultural institutions with a route from May 11 Square in front of the St. St. Cyril and Methodius" to the end point - Central Square - Military Club.
On May 11 Square in front of Humanitarian High School "St. St. Cyril and Methodius" at 10:00 a.m. a festive speech by the Mayor of Plovdiv Municipality Zdravko Dimitrov and a prayer service by priests from the Holy Metropolis of Plovdiv are planned. At 10:30 a.m. is the start of the procession to Central Square - Military Club, which will be led by the Air Force Brass Band. Along the route, the procession will pass by the stairs of Kamenitsa, where a musical greeting for the holiday will be given by the Chorus of Plovdiv Boys "Stefka Blagoeva". A solemn concert will be held in the Military Club in honor of the holiday and the 14th edition of the "People's Awakeners and I" project will be launched. It starts at 11.30 am.
On November 1, at 5:30 p.m., the traditional holiday concert "Poklon, Folk Awakeners" of the amateur ensembles from the Plovdiv community centers begins at the Roman Stadium. The organizer is the Municipal Community Center Union - Plovdiv, the concert takes place with the support of the Municipality of Plovdiv and the Ancient Plovdiv Municipal Institute. More than 120 musicians, dancers and singers of different ages will participate in the event, from Chitalish amateur collectives, winners of awards from festivals that popularized the beauty of Bulgarian music and dance not only in the country but outside the borders of Bulgaria.
On the occasion of the People's Awakening Day, the Regional Museum of Natural History announces free admission to the museum's main exhibition for children up to 7 years old and a mineral gift on November 1, 2023.
The Regional Ethnographic Museum will be open for free visits to students, who will be able to explore the museum and see the exhibition "My Ethnographic World" (or for the donation in the Bulgarian wedding) from the collection of Rumyana Mehandova. It presents one of the most important customs related to the Bulgarian wedding - the so-called "ritual donation". Giving is a favor "without words" through the language of things and symbols.
"Ivan Vazov" Public Library will have initiatives on several consecutive days. From 30.10.2023 to 03.11.2023, a showcase can be viewed on the occasion of the Day of Alarm Clocks in the Reading Room and in the Children's Department of the Library. On 30.10.2023, an open lesson for alarm clocks is scheduled in the Children's Department of the Library. On October 31, 2023, there will be a visit to the Social Rehabilitation Center SONIK START. Librarians will read fairy tales and together with visitors of the center will create "Tales in pictures". 01.11.2023 has been declared an Open Day, free user cards will be issued.
The city art gallery traditionally opens the doors of its expositions for free visits to schoolchildren and students. The Regional Archaeological Museum invites you to two exhibitions: a temporary exhibition "Cuneiform" and a temporary exhibition "Power and Power. The Late Bronze Age in our lands".
