KINOMANIA Plovdiv starts on November 17 at LUCKY House of Cinema. Don't miss the native Oscar submission "Lessons of Kindness", the new film by Pedro Almodóvar, as well as "The Boy and the Heron" by the Japanese master Hayao Miyazaki!
Pedro Almodovar's new film Strange Way of Life, Cannes Palme d'Or winner Anatomy of a Fall and films featuring some of our favorite stars from the big screen will be on view at the upcoming Kinomania 2023 in Plovdiv. The festival started on November 17 and will continue until December 3 at the usual location - LUCKY House of Cinema.
In "Strange Way of Life" - a short men's melodrama with Ethan Hawke, Pedro Almodovar creates an unusual mix of bright colors and explosive eroticism. Beautifully shot and voiced, A Strange Life captures the rarely screened intensity of middle-aged romance. The film can be seen on December 2 at 6:30 p.m.
This year's Cinemamania program also includes Cannes Palme d'Or winner Anatomy of a Fall. The crime thriller by Justine Trier takes us to a mountain town where the head of a family of three, Samuel, is found dead under suspicious circumstances. The doubts that arose whether it was a suicide or a murder by his wife brought to light unclear relationships in the family. The screening is on November 25 at 6:00 p.m.
We will also see some of our favorite movie stars on the big screen. Vincent Cassel, Louis Garrel and Eva Green star in the new adaptation of the classic story The Three Musketeers: D'Artagnan. The production is an attempt to modernize and update Dumas' narrative for a modern audience with proper action, quality cinematography and an attractive cast. The movie is on November 18 at 6:30 p.m.
Another legend of the cinema - Helen Mirren - we can see in "Golda Meir: The Iron Lady of Israel". Almost unrecognizable, she transforms into the unique leader of the Jewish state and recreates a strong but also very fragile lady in the heart of a geopolitical conflict and surrounded by men. The screening is on Tuesday, November 21, at 8:30 p.m.
In another film about a strong woman tied to politics, we will see Catherine Deneuve. "The President's Wife" immerses us in the relationship between Bernadette and Jacques Chirac. With comic aplomb, the film traces the evolution and rise of a "first lady" in this male-dominated world where political "misogyny" reigns. The screening of the film is on Monday, November 27, at 8:30 p.m.
