Nouvelle vague , Willy William, Ishtar , Nej , Deluxe and Barbara Pravi at Francofolie 2024 in June in Plovdiv

Francofolie festival on June 21 and 22 will be held at Rowing canal. 

"We finished 2023 with 661,967 overnight stays, which is equivalent to a 30% increase compared to 2019, and of these realized overnight stays, we note an 18% increase among Bulgarian citizens and a 20% increase among foreign citizens. This is due to several factors, one of which is the investment in cultural content and cultural program. This was a commitment we made in this management mandate of Mayor Kostadin Dimitrov - to invest and program large-scale, commercial festivals that have potential and help to increase the tourist flow in the city. After the adoption of the budget of the Plovdiv Foundation 2019 and the announced invitation under the "Heritage" program, project proposals for BGN 2.5 million were submitted, amid huge interest and competition. The approved projects were announced this morning, with the Board of Directors of the "Plovdiv 2019" Foundation voting to increase the total value of the open call by BGN 300,000, which brings the budget of the "Festivals and Major Events" program in Plovdiv to BGN 1,300,000. So, a dynamic summer awaits us with large-scale productions, events and festivals, and the Francofoli festival is one of them."

With these words of Deputy Mayor Plamen Panov, began the presentation of the participants in the Bulgarian edition of the Festival Les Francofolies 2024, which will be held in Plovdiv on June 21 and 22. At a special press conference in the municipality of Plovdiv with the participation of the mayor Kostadin Dimitrov, the director of the festival in Bulgaria - Hristina Spasova, the deputy mayor for culture, archeology and tourism Plamen Panov, Director of the "Plovdiv 2019" Foundation Kiril Velchev, and the Deputy Mayor for Construction and Investments Eng. Tosho Pashov, several topics were presented.

First, the mayor Kostadin Dimitrov gave up-to-date and detailed information about the ongoing road repairs, after which the participants in the 7th edition of the Festival Les Francofolies were announced and the results of the open invitation "Festivals and major events" under the "Heritage" program of the Plovdiv Foundation 2019.

"I sincerely thank the Municipality of Plovdiv, we had a very strong 6th edition last year, we did it for the first time in Plovdiv, and all those who were not able to attend are sincerely sorry. This year we expect an even stronger 7th edition, which will take place at a new location - the Botev Stadium. A new beginning, with which I believe we will pave the way for many more great musical events after us at Botev Stadium," said the director of the festival in Bulgaria - Hristina Spasova.

In its seventh edition, the festival decided to bet on several names known and loved by the public, which the fans of the event themselves wanted to see in Bulgaria. On the first night, Nouvelle vague will perform on stage , Ishtar and Willy William , and in the second the audience will dance together with Deluxe , Barbara Pravi and Nej . The names of the other stars of Francofolies 2024 will be announced very soon , as well as the rich accompanying program.

The wasted elegance and chic of the French group Nouvelle vague and the charm of their live performances made them fast favorites on the international scene. They perform French and English covers of favorite songs, they don't have permanent vocals, but they work with different artists. The creators of the project are jazz musicians Marc Colin and Olivier Either . From its inception in 2004 until now, Nouvelle vague have sold over 700,000 albums and hundreds of concerts worldwide.

Israeli singer Eti Zach , better known under her stage name Ishtar , is well known in our country. Her style is interesting, different, combining motifs from the Middle East with pop, flamenco and other global rhythms. Ishtar arrived in Paris at the beginning of the 90s, sang alone before becoming part of the ethnic group Alabina . The mix of multicultural styles quickly made their music extremely popular on the international stage. Today Ishtar Alabina sells millions of copies of her albums, reflecting her inimitable sensual style.

Deluxe is a French electro pop band from the south of France . Their style is danceable, mixing hip-hop, soul, funk and jazz. They started with 6 musicians in 2007, friends since childhood and passionate about music. To date, they have released 6 studio albums, and their live performances are attractive with the use of many different instruments that they add to the mix.

Nej was born and raised in Toulouse. She started singing very early, inspired by Mary J. Blige . At 18, he moved to Paris and quickly found a place on the city's music scene.

Barbara Pievic , known professionally as Barbara Pravi , is a French singer and songwriter. After signing with Capitol Music France in 2015, she released five extended plays with the label . She represented France at the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 with the song " Voilà ", taking second place, France's best result since 1991. Her debut album " On n'enferme pas les oiseaux " (We don't close the birds) was released on August 27, 2021. As a songwriter Pravi has written songs for a number of artists . She additionally composed " J'imagine " by Valentina, who won Junior Eurovision 2020, and " Oh Maman !' by Lissandro , who won Junior Eurovision 2022.

The French DJ, producer and artist Willy William is known for his magnetic energy and unique sound. He has worked with some of the hottest music artists today such as David Guetta, Jason Derulo and more. In 2016, Willy's hit EGO was the most searched French song on Shazam of the year. Me Gente won an MTV VMA Award and remains at the top of the charts in over 55 countries as well as #1 on the Global Spotify for an amazing 12 consecutive weeks.
