Encho Pironkov. Plastics of wood
Encho Pironkov surprises with wooden figures in the City Gallery
The name of the famous Bulgarian artist Encho Pironkov is associated with expressive painting, large-scale murals, even with film sets. And just when the audience thinks they know him, the great artist surprises them with a creative act, the result of a momentary play of his imagination or a purposeful experiment.
City Gallery of Fine Arts - Plovdiv invites you to an extraordinary exhibition by Encho Pironkov, containing a cycle of wood sculptures created in the 1960s and for decades closed in the artist's studio. They were shown for the first time only last year in Smolyan.
On February 16 (Friday) at 18:00 the exhibition "Encho Pironkov. Plastics of wood" on the first floor of the Halls for temporary expositions (Str. "Knyaz Alexander I" No. 15).
Although the 27 figures are female, the art critic Krasimir Linkov will note in his text for the album accompanying the exhibition:
“The last thing is their specificity. It is never the same as prescribed in these images. They are the little-big escapes, a creative outlet for the artist. Deepest feelings shared through the chisel of material that has its own silent soul and tolerance to listen.”
The exhibition can be seen until March 17, 2024.
