"Ice Age" takes over the Natural History Museum: Poles exhibit and two-day "Ice Festival" open

Regional Museum of Natural History - Plovdiv invites residents and guests of the city to the official opening of the new exhibition "Poles", created under the project "Construction of a living exhibition Antarctica", financed by the National Fund "Culture", accompanied by the holding of the first of its kind "Ice festival " (February 16 and 17, 2024).

The opening of the new "Poles" exhibition and the two-day festival is on Friday, February 16, at 10:00 a.m. in the museum lobby. It will be attended by the Children's Music and Dance Formation at the Little Prince School, Plovdiv, which will present to the audience "Dance of the Ice Octopuses" and "Ocean Orchestra".

Guests at the opening will be the Mayor of Plovdiv Kostadin Dimitrov and the Deputy Mayor for Culture, Archeology and Tourism Plamen Panov.

The program of the "Ice Festival" on Friday, February 16, continues from 10:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. with a creative workshop in which children will assemble educational puzzles that will introduce them to the diverse world of marine fauna.

From 1:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. on the same day there will be a "Water Adventure" where children will have the opportunity to transform into their favorite aquatic creatures through artistic face painting.

On Saturday, February 17, from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. "Antarctic Wonders" coloring workshop will be held. In it, young visitors will immerse themselves in the world of Antarctic animals through drawing, which will not only develop their artistic skills, but also stimulate their understanding of the importance of preserving nature.

The project "Building a living exhibit Antarctica" aims to upgrade the capacity of the museum by building the first in Europe exhibition of live specimens, rare species of fish and invertebrates from the Antarctic continent. The project is innovative and includes several stages - construction of an exposition, delivery of live specimens of the Bulgarian polar scientists from Antarctica, holding a Festival, creation of specific content for the exposition and work with target audiences. The project partner is the Bulgarian Antarctic Institute.
