Plovdiv celebrates 170 years since the birth of Bezenshek

A festive evening on the occasion of the 170th anniversary of the birth of Prof. Anton Bezenšek "The Slovene with a Bulgarian heart" - creator of shorthand in Bulgaria and awarded with the distinction "Honorary Citizen of the City of Plovdiv", will be held on April 15, 2024, Monday, from 18:00 in the Union Hall of the Regional History Museum-Plovdiv.

The event takes place under the patronage of the Chairman of the Municipal Council-Plovdiv, Mr. Atanas Uzunov. Special guest will be His Excellency. Natasha Bergel – Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia to Bulgaria.

The host and organizer of this event is the Regional History Museum - Plovdiv, together with the National Association of Stenographers in Bulgaria, high school "St. St. Cyril and Methodius"-Plovdiv, in which Prof. Anton Bezenshek worked for 20 years, and State Archives-Plovdiv and Philosophical and Historical Faculty of Plovdiv University "Paisiy Hilendarski". A speech about the life and work of Prof. Bezenshek will be delivered by Dr. Stefan Shivachev - historian, Mr. Karamfil Matev - Chairman of the National Association of Stenographers in Bulgaria, Ch. Dr. Samuil Shivachev, assistant professor - historian-philosophical-historical faculty of Plovdiv University "Paisiy Hilendarski".

A musical greeting to the participants will be presented by the Evmolpeia Girls' Choir Formation at the ODK-Plovdiv with conductor Dr. Aliya Hanse and piano accompaniment by Yordanka Ivanova.
