Twentieth Edition Festival of Arts "Boris Christoff"
The team of Regional History Museum-Plovdiv, in partnership with the National Museum "Boris Christoff" - Sofia, will dedicate festivities to the world-famous opera singer, musical interpreter, and pedagogue Boris Christoff, marking the 110th anniversary of his birth on precisely May 18, 2024.
Boris Christoff, originally from Plovdiv, relocated to Sofia before ultimately settling in Italy during the 1940s. Immersed in the Apennines, he delved into classical singing and made his debut on the international opera scene. His voice gained acclaim in Italy, leading to dynamic performances across Europe, North and South America. Even today, Boris Christoff is revered and admired, with his performances regarded as exemplary.
To celebrate the anniversary, the teams from both museums are arranging a music festival across the two cities significant in his youth. The initial segment will occur in Plovdiv from May 13 to 18, featuring an exhibition, a film depicting his life, and performances by his students, local young musicians, and well-known figures in the music industry.
The events will be held in the Union Hall of the Regional History Museum - Plovdiv. Tickets can be purchased from the museum shop in the exhibition "Union of Bulgaria 1885" of the Regional History Museum - Plovdiv until the beginning of each of the concerts.
