MIO TEMPO
From June 7 to 26, 2024, the famous photographer Sonia Stankova will present her exhibition "MIO TEMPO" to the public. The author of thousands of images in his career as a photographer-artist, today Sonia comes to the understanding that "the series 'Reportage portraits in a studio' are the photographs that largely define my photographic portrait".
This cycle was shot in the mid-80s of the 20th century, the photos from it were presented at national and international forums, published in "COLORS" magazine, in books presenting Bulgarian photography, exhibited in galleries. As Sonya Stankova notes: "They have been compared to a catalog of neorealism films, which is my favorite cinema, sometimes they tell stories that not everyone is ready for." But they still have something to "tell" us today after so many years and vicissitudes, capturing the moment of their meeting with the lens at the time.
And why "MIO TEMPO"? "MY TIME" are the moments when I and my camera were one, when I captured images that defined my life, images that I provoked and that provoked me. Being able to experience the world through the lens has always allowed me to both go deeper into it and subconsciously distance myself, experiencing each moment differently."
The exhibition will open on June 7 at 6:00 p.m. in the Permanent Exhibition "Mexican Art" at the City Art Gallery, 11 "Artin Gidikov" Street in the Old Town.
It is part of the defense of a dissertation work for the acquisition of an educational and scientific degree "doctor".
