Welcome to Our "Three HAMMOND ORGANS Evening". This year marks the 90th anniversary of the first electric Hammond organ, the Model A, created in Chicago, Illinois by Lawrence Hammond. It is an interesting fact that the first organ in question left the factory as a gift to the great composer George Gershwin.
The reason for the creation of this instrument was the need of the small Methodist churches, whose number grew enormously in the 1930s, for compact and portable organs that sounded as close as possible to the large church ones, the price of which exceeded hundreds of thousands of dollars.
The long journey of this instrument from the church to the concert hall lasted about fifteen years, and was presented to the general public by Wild Billy Davis in 1950, when, together with two other musicians, he founded the Wild Billy Davis Trio. At that time, this fact was considered sacrilege, and the music performed on it "devilish". Very shortly after, the baton was taken over by the infamous Jimmy Smith, who is the main culprit behind the Hammond organ gaining such serious popularity. Of course, the popular music at the time was jazz, and so the organ was used primarily in the performance of that style. With the advent of rock and roll in the late 1950s and early 1960s, however, the recognizable sound of this instrument is present in almost all recordings from that time to this day, including the blues, hard rock, progressive rock, fusion styles and popular music in general.

On the stage of the Bunardjika Summer Theater will be two original instruments produced in the early 60s and a modern digital organ, as close as possible to the sound of its analog counterparts.
