The first concert of the new season at the Plovdiv Chamber Stage features Beleva & Milanov DUO. Hristina Beleva (gadulka, vocals) and Petar Milanov (guitar) virtuously convey emotions and tell stories through the synergy of their instruments. Their love for folklore and world music inspires truly heartfelt melodies, resonating through the bodies of these two string instruments – the gadulka and the guitar. The duo’s compositions carry the spirit not only of the Balkans but also of the Mediterranean.
The project was created in 2011 with their first solo album, “On Focus.” Both performers have a distinctive artistic voice, and their music is deeply rooted in Bulgarian folklore. Hristina Beleva has long transcended preconceived notions about the role of the gadulka in the contemporary world, firmly establishing its presence across different genres. In their duo, the gadulka is delicately courted by the perfectly balanced sound of the guitar.
Their artistry is free from vanity – a quality that impresses with its unique ideas, fluidity, and the innate spontaneity that the artists generously share with their audience.
