For the first time, the Bulgarian audience will have the opportunity to experience up close the work of one of the most significant figurative artists of our time – Bahram Hajou, who arrives at the invitation of the City Art Gallery – Plovdiv.
The exhibition is curated by Krassimir Linkov, director of the gallery, with Milena Kitipova, chief curator, as assistant curator. A catalog accompanies the exhibition.
The official opening will take place on May 13 at 6 p.m.
Bahram Hajou is an internationally acclaimed German artist of Syrian-Kurdish origin. For over 40 years, he has lived and worked in Germany and also maintains a studio in New York, USA.
He has held solo exhibitions in prestigious galleries across the globe. In 2014, he was awarded the Henri Matisse Prize by Château Musée Grimaldi in France, following a memorable exhibition in Paris that resonated strongly within cultural circles and the media.
The project is supported by the Municipality of Plovdiv and is part of the Cultural Calendar for 2025.
