Photo Academica 2026, Exhibition

Temporary Exhibition Halls at the City Art Gallery

On May 15 at 18:00, Plovdiv City Art Gallery (Temporary Exhibition Halls, 15 Knyaz Alexander I St.) will open the exhibition of the 27th National Review of Bulgarian Photography, “Photo Academica” 2026.
During the event, the competition awards will be presented. For the third consecutive year, the competition is dedicated to photographic series. The recipient of the honorary “Academica” statuette for contribution to photographic art in 2026 will also be announced.
The exhibition features 12 series by 11 authors, comprising a total of 128 photographs.
The jury, chaired by photographer Yavor Popov and including Nadezhda Pavlova, Garo Keshishyan, Boryana Pandova, and Stefan Kamenov, reviewed 123 series with 1,195 photographs submitted by 93 authors. The submissions included 67 series with 630 images in the Art Photography category and 56 series with 565 images in the Photojournalism category.
The opening of the annual “Photo Academica” 2026 review will also mark the beginning of the 17th edition of the European Month of Photography.
