International Folklore Festival 2026
International Folklore Festival 2026
Monday, July 27 – Friday, July 31
Ancient Theatre
For the 30th consecutive year, Plovdiv will host the International Folklore Festival – one of the most vibrant and beloved cultural events, which every summer brings together audiences of all ages and creates an atmosphere full of emotion, excitement, and unforgettable experiences. Once again, the festival will turn the hot July and August evenings into a true celebration of music, dance, and traditions.
On the city’s stages, folk dance ensembles from different parts of the world will perform, showcasing the richness of their cultures through rhythm, colour, and authentic energy. The audience will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in a colourful palette of traditions, gathered in one place – in the heart of Plovdiv.
Every day at 5:30 p.m., the dance ensembles will parade along the Main Street, while open-air concerts will take place at 6 p.m. on Stefan Stambolov Square. Evening performances will begin at 8 p.m. at the Ancient Theatre. The official opening of the festival will take place on July 27, while the Gala Concert and the closing ceremony are scheduled for July 31.
This year, Plovdiv will welcome folklore ensembles from Georgia, Mexico, Peru, Romania, Montenegro, and Bulgaria. The host ensemble of the festival will be the iconic Trakia Folk Ensemble from Plovdiv.
The International Folklore Festival is organized by the Municipality of Plovdiv and is part of the Cultural Calendar for 2026.
