The 27th edition of the Philippopolis Film Nights festival kicks off this weekend with two blockbuster titles from the world of international cinema. In addition to the latest box office hits, the big screen will also feature four modern film classics, as well as a special selection of movies presented over five themed evenings, showcasing highlights from “Cinema for Travelers”, MEHAP Film Fest, and the BANFF Mountain Film Festival.
The festival opens with “F1: The Movie”, starring Brad Pitt and Javier Bardem. Directed by Joseph Kosinski, known for "Top Gun: Maverick", the film was shot during actual Grand Prix races, with the crew competing alongside real sports titans. Pitt plays a gifted driver who returns to the track after years of absence, facing a tough battle against modern-day rivals.
Another highly anticipated title is “Jurassic World: Rebirth”, featuring Scarlett Johansson—one of the most awaited box office hits of the year. In this new installment of the franchise, dinosaurs struggle to adapt to Earth's climate and are confined to isolated tropical zones. Johansson's character and her team must locate some of the deadliest dinosaurs in order to develop a new life-saving medicine.
