Program for the Celebration of the 140th Anniversary of the Unification of Bulgaria and the Day of the City of Plovdiv

September 6, 10:00 a.m.
Solemn prayer service at the Holy Assumption Cathedral (Uspenie Bogorodichno church), officiated by His Eminence Metropolitan Nikolay of Plovdiv.
Following the service, a wreath-laying ceremony will take place at the monument of Gavril Krastevich in the church courtyard, with the participation of military personnel, clergy, and citizens.

September 6, 11:00 a.m.
Wreath-laying ceremony at the memorial plaque of Major Raycho Nikolov (near Roman Stadium Square).

September 6, 11:30 a.m.
Wreath-laying ceremony at the monument of Zahari Stoyanov in the City Garden (behind the Regional Museum of Natural History).

September 6, 7:00 p.m.
At Central Square, a traditional reenactment of the events of September 6, 1885, will be performed by the patriotic committee "Rodolyubie".
The reenactment depicts how the troops, led by Major Danail Nikolaev, along with the detachment of Chardafon the Great, took control of Plovdiv. The Proclamation of the Bulgarian Secret Central Revolutionary Committee will be read, announcing the fall of the Rumelian government and the declaration of the Unification of Bulgaria. The reenactment traditionally ends with a festive Bulgarian horo dance.

September 6, 7:30 p.m.
At the Ancient Theatre, a festive concert will take place on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Big Band Plovdiv:

September 6, 7:45 p.m.
At the Regional History Museum – Unification Hall, the opening of the documentary exhibition: “The Unification and Its Key Figures”
The exhibition highlights prominent individuals who took part in the preparation, realization, and defense of the Unification. Documents, photographs, artworks, memoirs, and quotes will recreate the spirit of unity and patriotism – values that continue to inspire us today.

September 6, 8:30 p.m.
At Unification Square, in front of the monument of the same name, a military ceremony and fireworks display will take place to mark the 140th anniversary of the Unification of Bulgaria and the Day of the City of Plovdiv, with the participation of honorary units from the Plovdiv garrison.
