Thursday, November 20 at 7 p.m.
First Studio of Radio Plovdiv
Chamber Scene Plovdiv invites the citizens of Plovdiv and the city’s guests to a truly unique yet deeply moving concert.
“OM Ethno Jazz Quartet” consists of:
Nikolay Ivanov – keyboards, tambura, flutes, vocals
Hristina Beleva – gadulka
Mario Ivanov – bass
Petar Yordanov “Buni” – percussion
They will perform pieces from the project “Traveling with the Wind”, featuring the incredible Hristina Beleva (gadulka) as the soloist. The music is ethnically influenced by various cultural layers, primarily based on new compositions inspired by Bulgarian folklore with a neo-romantic character, intertwined with jazz and extensive improvisation. The music aims to lead inward to our deepest inner layers and bring harmony. “OM” uses instruments from Balkan traditions – tambura, darbuka, kaval, dvoyanka, tupan, gaida – and from the East – sitar, ghatam, tabla, bamboo flutes, saz, def, throat singing, etc., blending them with guitar, piano, electric bass, electronic instruments, and computer programming.
