Back in Jazz
Back in Jazz, performance
Saturday, February 14 at 7 p.m.
Boris Hristov House of Culture
The audience in Plovdiv will witness “Back in Jazz” – a bold creative experiment in which the musicians put aside their sheet music to become actors.
The performance transports us into the world of Rosalía Stavreva’s band. It tells the story of a group of talents united by a seemingly unattainable dream. Through humor, gentle self-irony, and a touch of melancholy, the artists reveal the faces behind the instruments. It is a story about false hopes, the power of friendship, and that eternal longing for freedom that only jazz can give. As they navigate between rehearsals and life’s compromises, the characters make us ask: how far can we go in chasing our dreams, and how close is Miles Davis’ trumpet, really?
At the center of the action is the beloved Plovdiv singer Elia Todorova, standing alongside actor Nikolay Nikolov. The magic is enhanced by the music of Mihail Yosifov and the vision of director Stanislava Rizova. On stage, we will also see a live band composed of: Galen Nikolov, Krasimir Zafirov, Ivaylo Manev, Mihail Todorov, Daniele Febbo, Valentin Atanasov, and Simeon Bozhilov. The performance’s dynamic is highlighted by choreography from Monika Makaveeva.
“Back in Jazz” is not just a production – it is a sincere and human confession, told with great love. An invitation to experience Valentine’s Day in Plovdiv: with class, style, and plenty of music.
The event is held with the support of Plovdiv Municipality.
