Too many portraits, Exhibition by Konstantin Konstantinov
Friday, April 17 – Wednesday, May 6
Temporary Exhibition Halls of the City Art Gallery

Konstantin Konstantinov is one of the most intriguing and innovative contemporary Bulgarian artists, distinguished by his ability to combine traditional techniques with modernist concepts. His work is richly infused with expressiveness, symbolism, and color, making it easily recognizable and thought-provoking. The exhibition “Too Many Portraits” by Konstantin Konstantinov presents a compelling exploration of identity through repetition and excess. Bringing together a dense body of works, the exhibition challenges traditional portrait painting by dissolving recognizable features into expressive gestures and multiple layers and surfaces. As faces multiply, individuality begins to fragment, reflecting a contemporary condition shaped by the constant circulation of images. Yet within this visual overload, each portrait retains a sense of intimacy, suggesting fleeting encounters between the subject and the viewer.
The official opening of the exhibition will take place on April 17 at 6:30 p.m. The curator is Deyan Pavlov.
