Plovdiv Jazz Fest: Concert by Tigran Hamasyan and his band
Tuesday, July 28 at 9 p.m.
Orpheus Summer Cinema

Tigran Hamasyan is considered one of the most remarkable and distinctive jazz-rock pianists of his generation. The virtuoso musician seamlessly blends powerful jazz improvisation, progressive rock, and diverse Armenian folk music.
Born in Gyumri, Armenia, in 1987, Hamasyan began playing piano at the age of three and won numerous competitions as a child. In 2003, at 16, he won the piano competition at the Montreux Jazz Festival, and in 2005 he won the prestigious Thelonious Monk International Piano Competition. His awards include the French Victoires de la Musique and the Deutscher Jazzpreis for piano (2021).
He has released the albums World Passion, New Era, Red Hail, A Fable, Mockroot, An Ancient Observer, For Gyumri, Revisiting the Film, and StandArt. In 2024, he released the conceptual album The Bird of a Thousand Voices, combining folk elements and rock influences, inspired by an Armenian fairy tale.
In 2025, Hamasyan released Manifeste – a bold album with rhythmic complexity, spiritual depth, and a fusion of Armenian folk, progressive rock, and choral mysticism.

Plovdiv Jazz Fest is supported by the Municipality of Plovdiv and is part of the 2026 Cultural Calendar.
