Chamber Scene Plovdiv 2026: Victoria Kirilova - Roots & Skies
Chamber Scene Plovdiv 2026: Victoria Kirilova - Roots & Skies, Concert
Sunday, July 5 at 8 p.m.
Stage “The Little Stables”
Behind Victoria Kirilova stands an international quartet of remarkable instrumentalists. Together, they build a bridge between Mediterranean traditions, digital electronics, Bulgarian roots, and the open space of free improvisation.
On stage in Plovdiv, the performers will be: Victoria Kirilova – double bass, composition, Oscar Antoli – clarinet and bass clarinet, Dimitar Gorchekov – piano and Borislav Petrov – drums.
The music in Roots & Skies is an exquisite and bold synthesis of contemporary jazz, refined chamber sensibility, and the hypnotic asymmetric rhythms of Bulgarian folklore. The project is led by Victoria Kirilova – a talented visionary and nominee for the prestigious Austrian Jazz Award. Together with her international formation, she reinterprets traditional Balkan roots, transforming them into a living, dynamic force within the context of modern European sound.
The concert program promises to take the audience through the beautiful contrasts of the local and the global, connecting East and West. Each piece in the repertoire tells a story infused with magical realism – from mysterious nighttime train journeys to exotic cities and vivid, cinematic soundscapes.
Chamber Scene Plovdiv is supported by the Municipality of Plovdiv and is part of the city's Cultural Calendar for 2026.
