12.01.2015: The number of overnights in Plovdiv for 2014 has increased by 18 % compared to 2013 as the Bulgarians are 9 % more and the foreigners 32,70% more than last year. If we compare the year before last year to last year the increase of overnights in our city is 9,78%. In total, 600 000 tourists have visited the city in the last year.  During the last two years Plovdiv  has been developing as a cultural ,historical and events  tourism top destination in Bulgaria. According to the last statistics Plovdiv keeps its positive figures stable. The analysis of those figures shows a successful touristic year for the city.

For instance, the people that have visited our touristic centres have increased by 20% and incomes of touristic taxes in 2014 are more by 22.28% compared to the year before.
These joyful news are a result of the popularization  of Plovdiv and of participating in international touristic fairs and expositions. The administration plans to keep this tendency and to position Plovdiv as an attractive destination for the international markets and to attract more visitors to prolong their overnight stay in the municipality’s touristic objects. The forecast for 2015 is also positive- Plovdiv expects  tourists to stay longer and more often than before. Small business is expected to develop in the sphere of hospitality and big and medium-sized business  to keep its stability.

At the end of 2014 the city was a host of the 5th International Meeting of tour operators , aiming to make Plovdiv a well-known touristic destination .In 2015 some new and not less exciting events are planned . Events that will turn our city into a place where cultural and events tourism feel  at home.
