The Municipality of Plovdiv and ''America for Bulgaria'' Foundation are starting the restoration of the Big Early Christian basilica on Maria Luisa Boulevard in front of the Catholic cathedral. 
For the restoration of the object the foundation will provide 4 900 000 leva.The episcopal basilica is the largest one on the Balkan semi-island. It has a width of 39 metres and 86 metres of length, unique mosaics of around 2000  square metres and 70 medallions of depictured birds - symbol of the souls of the newly baptised Christians.The expectations of the foundation are that the restoration will start this year and will be over until 2017.
