The new artistic director of Plovdiv 2019 Foundation aims at making Plovdiv one of the most successful capitals in the biggest programme for culture in the European Union. On 30.03.2015 at a pressconference the director stated the upcoming goal - developing sustainable programmes for ''exporting'' cultural production to Europe. On May,19 in Brussels Plovdiv will be officially pronounced a European Capital of Culture 2019 together with the Italian city Matera. At the conference the communication strategy, the future cooperation with existing partners and attracting new ones to the artistic programme as well as the regulations for working with them were discussed.

The director claimed that he is very excited about being at the position and about being part of the team although he does not live in the city, nor speaks Bulgarian. He believes the campaign's moto ''Together'' takes the attention of European organisations he keeps contact with. ''Plovdiv is a marvellous city and has huge potential and has all chances of becoming one of the best European cultures so far. I would like to assist Plovdiv by using my contacts and knowledge and by building a well-based programme and ensure a good finance. We should use this opportunity and make Plovdiv and Bulgaria more popular in Europe''.

The recently taken decision that street musicians will be allowed to different districts of the city based on their musical education was also a topic at the conference and was pointed that this is not a condition or a must in order to bear the title of European Capital of Culture. This year the foundation will start important projects from the programme which won the title of European Capital of Culture for Plovdiv. Key infrastucture projects will be started.
