INTERNATIONAL WINE COMPETITION CONCOURS MONDIAL DE BRUXELLES IN PLOVDIV

The 23-th edition of the international wine competition Mondial de Bruxelles is going to be carried out in Bulgaria from the 29-th of April to the 1-st of May 2016 in the city of Plovdiv.
In its more than 20-year history Concours Mondial de Bruxelles has turned into a wine championship. Over 320 tasters from 53 nationalities, who are renowned merchants, enojournalists, sommeliers and wine experts, are going to take part in the jury of the competition in which are going to join 8000 probes of wine from all around the world.
The hospitality of this kind of international forum is not only prestigious, but is also a recognition of the authority of this vine growing country and its production of wines, which are worthy rivals on the Global market.
Since the year 2006 Concours Mondial de Bruxelles  has expanded its international borders and nowadays it is held not only in Belgium. Lisbon, Maastricht, Bordeaux, Valencia, Palermo, Luxembourg, Guimaraes , Bratislava and Jesolo are cities in which the event has been carried out. In 2016 Plovdiv is going add its name on this list.  
Bulgaria has been competing for the carrying out of the event in 2016 with other famous wine destinations. What gave us an advantage was our millennium wine history and tradition to produce exceptional wines which are winning awards from international competitions, such as Concours Mondial de Bruxelles.
Plovdiv has been chosen as a center of one of the main wine regions in Bulgaria-the Thracian Valley, which has preserved the talent of the ancient inhabitants to produce this divine drink for more than 9 000 years now. 
The program of the jury for the competition will include visits of vaults and vineyards around the country, as well as cultural-historical and archeological sites. By the time it is carried out a number of preceding events will be organized in Plovdiv in order to emphasize the significance of Bulgaria as a wine country on the world map.     
The first such event was the ceremony for awarding the Bulgarian wine producers as winners of Concours Mondial de Bruxelles 2015. The awards were given by the manager of the competition Toma Contenoble on the 10-th of June 2015. The hosts were the State Wine Chamber rand PROBEGEX with the special support of the Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of Agriculture and the host of the prestigious event for the year 2016- the Municipality of Plovdiv.
This year the Bulgarian wines won in Jesolo, Italy one major golden medal, 14 golden medals and 22 silver medals.
