ONE DESIGN WEEK - IKEA ART EVENT 2015
IKEA launch a new module in their line of activities under the heading ART EVENT. The first project in the series is dedicated to street art, the most democratic form of expression. Its inherent characteristics are: ephemeral existence, free and unlimited access to everyone who is just passing by and (incidentally or quite on purpose) becomes a viewer.
IKEA invited 12 street artists from around the world to create unique posters (70 x 100 cm) and then printed them in a limited collection. The participants treated all kinds of paper and deployed diverse effects and artistic approaches. The common denominator is their distinct and powerful visual language which you will draw your attention anywhere in the world. Adapting to the framework of the project and the requirements for print on paper, the street artists scaled their ideas to fit the format of interior art. Here they are: ELLE (San Francisco, USA), Blue (Gothenburg, Sweden), Nuria Mora (Madrid, Spain), Koralie and Supakitch (Paris and Nimes, France), Sobekcis (Belgrade, Serbia), Hua Tunan (Foshan, China), Jeroen Erosie (Roosendaal, the Netherlands), Tfreak (Sao Paulo, Brazil), NEVERCREW (Lugano and Bellinzona, Switzerland), Eko Nugroho (Yogyakarta, Indonesia), CRASH (The Bronx, New York City, USA), M-city (Gdynia, Poland).
The idea behind the project is perfectly tuned to IKEA's mission to make unique design accessible and affordable. The extravagant posters from their street art collection will be sold in Bulgaria exclusively during the last three days of One Design Week in Plovdiv.
