Mapping the City is a one-week workshop in which students of visual communication (graphic design, illustration, photography, fine arts) will explore the social and cultural DNA of the city. They will be guided by two passionate and socially engaged graphic designers from Germany – Marc Andrews and Christian Degen, proud founders of andrews:degen - a design studio in Amsterdam. The participants will explore together diverse facets of the city and will suggest creative solutions to local urban problems by developing a theme of social significance they find close to heart. The workshop aims to sensitize young creatives to their social and cultural environment and to encourage them to take an active and responsible role in society as future designers. The final product of this intensive week will be an off- and online magazine presenting the results from the students' efforts to the general public.
