ONE DESIGN WEEK - Typographical transformations
You may catch Elodie Mandray and Caroline Aufort, the two young ladies behind creative studio Acmé Paris, at the Forum, but also meet them in a four-hour workshop on Friday, June 26. Join in and have a go at transforming a single letter to give it a new personality and new signification. “Typography is to literature as musical performance is to composition: an essential act of interpretation, full of endless opportunities for insight or obtuseness,” claims Robert Bringhurst in his book “The Elements of Typographic Style”.
Workshop participants will have to pick a word and pick a letter. From this word, they will have to make at least 3 changes on the letter. The challenge is to create a new typeface drawing that will convey a new message, a new emotion, while keeping it coherent with the original letter.
Participants: 10 – 12 students, professionals and nonprofessionals tempted by typography.
