THE SPIRIT OF BULGARIAN EMBROIDERY
Regional Ethnographic Museum – Plovdiv will delight its visitors from 1 to 14 June 2017 with the exhibition “The Spirit of the Bulgarian Embroidery” by club for national embroidery and knitting “Balgarka”.
This exhibition is a tale written with needle and thread by the ladies from club “Balgarka”. They want to preserve and to hand to the younger followers which are tangled by the magic of the handiwork their gained experience and knowledge in the making of embroidery, knitting and lace. Their whole creative energy and emotional connection with the traditional technics is directed towards this cause. The focus of the club`s activity falls on the skillful combination of the taste of the contemporary person and the using of the good old practices.
By unfolding the fantasy and inspiration in the presented works it can be seen the contemporary interpretation of the tradition – jewelries and home decorations made with the technics of the embroidery and knitted embroidery “kene”, small panels and accessories made with shuttle Kalofer lace, embroidery on a modern clothes, different decorations from lace crochet.
The skillful work with the colour and composition of the Bulgarian embroidery is a proof for the mastery skill of the artists from club “Balgarka”. The colour harmony and the using of different natural materials contribute for the contemporary look of the clothing and the accessories made by felt.
The Bulgarian woman is a spring of harmony, inspiration and self-confidence. She transforms her gift and skills in a precious heritage of which we can be proud before the rest of the cultural and civilized world.
