L-E-V's newest performance, CHAPTER 3, will be presented on October 5th at the “Boris Hristov” House of Culture- Plovdiv, a few days after its world premiere in August – September. The New York Times writes that choreographer Sharon Eyal’s work has “hearts wide open”.
„CHAPTER 3” continues the theme of love following the company’s previous two productions – “OCD Love” and “Love Chapter 2” – and displays the distinctive dance vocabulary of Sharon Eyal and multimedia designer Gai Behar. They founded the L-E-V Company in 2013 and their performances quickly became worldwide events of unique dance, multimedia, drama, and fashion.
“OCD Love” reflects on the deepest of all human feelings – love. The performance is inspired by writer’s Neil Hilborn powerful modern poem – confessions of a man with OCD. It deals with the Obsessive-compulsive disorder as a repeatedly emerging challenge for love and for life. Because of his mania, anxiety and intrusive thoughts, he loses his true love.
LOVE Chapter 2, as the creators write, is a “reason to cry”. The show is a darker tale of loneliness, despair, and attempts to connect to people.
CHAPTER 3 focuses on processes of repair and coming to new arrangements. During ONE DANCE WEEK this fall, Bulgarian audiences have the opportunity to see the performance before its debut on many important international festivals and ttheatres
Sharon Eyal danced with the Batsheva Dance Company from 1990 to 2008. She worked as a choreographer and associate artistic director from 2003-2004 and house choreographer from 2005-2012. With Batsheva, she worked under notorious choreographer Ohad Naharin who created his original “Gaga” technique. She added to this famous dance language and continued to expand her movement vocabulary.
Since 2006, collaborators Sharon Eyal | Gai Behar have been a significant voice in the artistic community, creating a continuous stream of critically acclaimed original works for dance companies around the world. L-E-V is the culmination of years of momentum, choreographed by Sharon Eyal and Gai Behar, accompanied by the original music of Ori Lichtik, delivered by fiercely talented dancers that move with expressive precision.
L-E-V could be equally at home at a techno club or opera house. L-E-V is the confluence of movement, music, lighting, fashion, art and technology. Each uniquely expressive while emotionally entwined.
Ori Lichtik is a multifaceted musician, drummer and creative DJ One of the founding fathers of the techno scene in Israel, he has created, produced and spined musical productions, techno raves and various other music and performance events since 1996.
