EXHIBITION: ILLUSTRATION BY STELLA DREIS

Everyone carries both the good and the bad. Depending on the situation, one or the other may take the upper hand; it is up to us to decide which prevails.
Thoughts like these, about man’s dualistic nature, are the subject of “The Human Scarecrow,” the latest picture book by the illustrator Stella Dreis, with text by Michael Stavarič.
Exhibition Opening: Illustration by Stella Dreis on 17 September at 6pm at the Labyrinth Gallery (1 Angel Bukoreshtliev Str).

In a three-day workshop with the same title (22-22 September 2019, at the Labyrinth Gallery), we’ll use a free and playful manner to create our own human scarecrows. Or perhaps only odd birds. After all, isn’t any of us just an odd bird sometimes, sometimes, always…
The workshop is best suited for professional artists and illustrators, but amateurs are welcome too. The number of participants is limited to 12. For details, visit the gallery website and its Facebook page.
The results of the workshop will be put on view at a final show, “The Human Scarecrow,” from 23 to 30 September at the Labyrinth Gallery (1 Angel Bukoreshtliev Str). Working hours: Tue to Fri, 5pm to 8pm; Sat and Sun: 11am to 4pm. Admission is free.
ABOUT STELLA DREIS
Stella Dreis was born in Plovdiv in 1972. She has been living in Germany since 1995. She studied fashion design in Hamburg. Today Ms Dreis lives as a freelance illustrator in Heidelberg. Her work has received numerous recognitions: the Publication Award of the City of Hasselt, Belgium; the Troisdorf Picture Book Award; and the Golden Plate of Bratislava Illustration Biennial. Ms Dreis exhibits her work at various international events.
