PLOVEDIV Gallery

Over 40 works, created during the CampOUT - the first summer workshop for LGBTQ artists, will be open from 11th until 17th 2019 of November in Plovdiv.
The exhibition compiles many photographs, video realisations with spectacular choreography, art collages, made entirely during the one week art workshop.
CampOUT is a project by "Single Step" foundation with the goal to create opportunities for young artists from the LGBTQ community who have already started working in one of the 5 genres - visual arts, photography, music, dance and modern design, to receive knowledge and inspiration from successful Bulgarian and other mentors and to feel free to be themselves, to express themselves and to create.
Mentors in the first annual CampOUT were many popular personalities who are already established names in art. Some of them were the singers Lucy Dyakovska and Preya, fashion photographer Kostadin Krustev - Koko, fashion designer Antonia Yordanova from Knapp as well as the holder of "Golden needle" - Ivan Ginchev and the graduated from Colombia University in New York dancer and choreographer Kosta Karakashyan, visual artist Jonathan Rowsen and Tom Smith.
The themes the young artists worked on were selected after an application process for the workshop and the themes were related to the identity of each and every one of us : our persona, crossroads, self-knowledge and acceptance.
The exhibition opens on 11th of November and can be seen in gallery "PLOVEDIV" until 17th of November.
The project CampOUT is supported by the National fond "Culture, "Open society" foundation, San Diego Pride and the American embassy in Sofia.
