Plovdiv will symbolically pass the title to the next European Capitals of Culture exactly one year after the start of the major event. The Plovdiv 2019 Foundation has invited a team of Opera Plovdiv to organize the official ceremony, which will be held on January 12 at the Boris Hristov House of Culture at 7 pm.
The protocol part will be accompanied by a classical program with the participation of Plovdiv children - winners of music competitions, and a chamber orchestra of the Opera Plovdiv with guest soloist virtuoso Lia Petrova, who plays the unique Italian violin Matteo Goffriller from 1690, provided by Elizabeth Queen Music Chapell.
The universal language of classical music will convey the values of the initiative to the next European Capitals of Culture. During the performances, retrospective shots of the hundreds of events from the Plovdiv - European Capital of Culture 2019 program will be presented to the official guests.
The ceremony will be streamed via Facebook and online channels.
The next European Capital of Culture will be Rijeka (Croatia) and Galway (Ireland) in 2020.
