Different locations in the Old Town

A series of concerts, exhibitions, theater, open-air cinema, restaurants, bars, confectioneries, outdoor, will be part of this year's edition of the Old Town Festival, which will be held from 14 to 20 September under the motto "TOGETHER AGAIN".
Traditionally, the beginning of the Old Town Festival is set at the Ancient Theater. This year it will be with the large-scale concert-performance "Bulgaria, I gave you everything!", A joint project with the Foundation "Your home is Bulgaria". With it we will pay tribute to the remarkable work and speech of the national poet Ivan Vazov and on the occasion of the 170th anniversary of his birth. The ancient stage will welcome over 150 performers, and the most significant among them are the Guards Representative Brass Band, the soloists of the Representative Ensemble of the Armed Forces at the National Guard, who will visit the Philippopolis Theater for the first time.
We turn the yard of the house, where the permanent exposition of Zlatyu Boyadzhiev is kept, into a music stage. On 15.09. expect laureates from the releases during the years of S’cool Rock Fest, on 16.09. - concert of the favorites from INTRO, and on 17.09. The hit band JEREMY will perform in the Old Town.
We will take you among the mysterious connection between dance and pantomime, you will enjoy the concert "Jazz and the City" with the participation of famous musicians.
Traditionally, there will be special food areas with delicious traditional Bulgarian food, varied cuisine, sweet and ice cream stands, wine and beer.
During the holiday week we will host a large-scale exhibition of cartoons from the legendary collection of Radoi Ralin "Hot Peppers", which is carried out in partnership with the Museum "House of Humor and Satire" - Gabrovo and will celebrate 95 years since the birth of Boris Dimovski.
With the broadcast of Georgi Toshev's film "Georgi Parcalev - Hamlet from the town of Levski" we will honor the actor, loved by generations of Bulgarians. We will invite you to a theatrical comedy in the yard of Hindlian House. We will open exhibitions, we will host the national project "I am Bulgarian!" - Beautiful Bulgarian women will parade on the cobblestones of the Old Town, dressed in traditional Bulgarian costumes.
We will once again revive the iconic Nebet Tepe with an open-air cinema on September 18 and 19 with the films "After the End of the World" and "Return".
During the Old Town Festival you will have the opportunity to learn interesting facts about the history of the Tsar Simeon Garden through a documentary photo exhibition, which we are positioning in the City Garden itself. With various events we will take part in two large-scale initiatives: in the European Mobility Week we will call "Be active with us!" - Morning outdoor sports at the Roman Stadium of Philippopolis.
In the European Heritage Days, which in 2020 are under the motto "Heritage and Education", we open the doors for a series of artistic and educational workshops for children in different locations, united in the cycle "Together again - school in the museum". They will be mentored by specialists from the National Institute for Immovable Cultural Heritage, as well as artists from children's art studios.
In the house "Nedkovich" we will show a collection of porcelain from the rich fund of Ancient Plovdiv Municipal Institute.
During the Festival of the Old Town we will observe an already established tradition called "Sea of ​​love in the Old Town". The joint initiative with ME "Joyful Rites" will delight several couples who have chosen to say the coveted YES near the fountain on Saborna Street on September 19th and 20th.

All events in the rich program of HOLIDAYS OF THE OLD TOWN 2020 will be realized in strict compliance with the epidemic measures in the country and the admission is free.
