"In connection with the latest order of the Minister of Health, the events at the State Puppet Theater - Plovdiv will be held at 30% capacity of the hall. The current situation requires changes in our program for this week:
The premiere of the last performance of the festival program - "The puppy that could not bark" on 31.10 WILL take place. Due to the great interest, the show will be played also from 11:45.
The official closing of the festival "Month of: Gianni Rodari" is canceled! The results of the competitions for fairy tales, poems and drawings will be announced here, on the theater's website and announced personally to the winners.
The planned exhibition for a charitable cause is postponed and will be held as soon as the situation allows.
All events in the theater will continue to be held in strict compliance with the instructions of the Ministry of Health and the Regional Health Inspectorate!

"Month of: Gianni Rodari" at the State Puppet Theater - Plovdiv

The festival "Month of: Gianni Rodari" will be held in the State Puppet Theater - Plovdiv from 1 to 31 October 2020. The occasion for the event is the 100th anniversary of the birth of the great Italian writer, which we celebrate on October 23 this year.

During the festival, the audience will be able to see performances for both children and adults at various puppet theaters across the country. The performances are diverse in form and vision and present the rich possibilities for interpretation on the texts of Gianni Rodari. The State Puppet Theater - Plovdiv will host the Drama and Puppet Theater "Vasil Drumev" - Shumen, the State Puppet Theater - Sliven, the Sofia Puppet Theater, the State Puppet Theater - Varna, and Zhivko Dzhuranov will read in his unique way some untold tales.

The main focus of the event is children's creativity. Gianni Rodari himself says that "If we have to teach children to think, we must first teach them to invent." Following his advice, we have planned creative workshops after each children's performance of the festival program. Young viewers will have the opportunity to discover that everything can come to life and turn into a doll - even fruits and vegetables, to tell their own stories through music and movement, to learn how to create wonders from the most ordinary balloons.
For parents who want to learn more about the importance of fantasy and get practical guidance on how to help their children cultivate and develop it from an early age, there will be a special "workshop for parents" led by the experienced child psychologist and speech therapist - Ivelina Stamenova.

"Month of: Gianni Rodari" gives children the opportunity to entertain as writers and artists with three competitions: for a drawing inspired by "Tales on the phone" in two age groups - 4-7 years and 8-12 years, for poem and fairy tale - for children from 8 to 12 years. There will be prizes for the winners. The best poems and fairy tales will be selected by the writer Dimana Yordanova, and the paintings will be evaluated by students from National High School of Art "Tsanko Lavrenov" and National High School of Stage And Film Design.

After the festival, the best works from the competitions will be printed in a booklet, and the children's paintings will be exhibited in the lobby of the State Puppet Theater - Plovdiv and will be sold at symbolic prices for charity.

The festival is organized by the NGO "Three Are Too Many, Two - Not Enough" with the support of the Ministry of Culture and the Italian Cultural Institute and with the help of Rosa Impex.
