Opening of an exhibition of the III National Competition "Poster - Kostadin Otonov"

An exhibition from the III National Competition "Poster - Kostadin Otonov" will be presented from November 20, 2020 in Balabanov House, 57 Konstantin Stoilov Str., Plovdiv.

The exhibition is organized by the National High School of Arts "Tsanko Lavrenov" under the patronage of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria and is implemented with the financial support of the Municipality of Plovdiv under the project "Youth Messages to the World in the Language of Poster Art", Component 3. "Civic Activity for financing events in the field of culture of the municipality of Plovdiv", as part of the Cultural Calendar of the city for 2020.

All competition posters will be displayed in a virtual exhibition on the official websites of NHG "Tsanko Lavrenov" - www.nhglavrenov.bg and the Bulgarian Cultural Institute-Warsaw - http://bikpolska.pl/bg/

The third edition of the national competition "Poster - Kostadin Otonov" is dedicated to the celebration of 75 years since the founding of the UN and 65 years since Bulgaria's membership in the organization.

The competition was held remotely in two stages on June 18 and 19, 2020, and the voting is realized through a special online evaluation system on the official website of National High School of Arts "Tsanko Lavrenov". The selection included 59 posters of students aged 14 to 18 (grades 8 to 11) from art schools at the Ministry of Culture.

All works were selected and voted by a competent jury, which included representatives of: Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria, Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Bulgaria, Plovdiv District Administration, Plovdiv Municipality and Municipal Institute "Old Plovdiv", as well as teachers from the National Academy of Arts, Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts, VTU "St. St. Cyril and Methodius", National High School of Arts "Tsanko Lavrenov", NGPI "St. Luke", National School of Music and Performing Arts-Burgas, National Vocational High School of Printing and Photography, National High School of Arts  "Dimitar Dobrovich" and renown graphic designers.

The jury awarded ten prizes. The first, second and third place winners will receive scholarships under the terms and conditions of the Ordinance for the protection of gifted children. The organizers reserve the right to give additional prizes.

Events of the III National Competition "Poster-Kostadin Otonov":

- An exhibition with posters from the third National Competition "Poster - Kostadin Otonov" was opened on July 9, 2020 at 4 pm in the gallery "Mission" of the State Cultural Institute at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria, Alfred Nobel Street № 2, Sofia. The event was officially presented by Deputy Foreign Minister Milen Lyutskanov, who congratulated the distinguished students in the competition. Greetings to the audience and participants were sent by Valeri Yotov, Director of the UN Directorate for Development Cooperation, Snezhana Yoveva-Dimitrova - Director of the State Cultural Institute at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Svetlozar Chavdarov - Director of the National Art Gallery "Tsanko Lavrenov". The opening was attended by diplomats, representatives of the Ministry of Culture, teachers from art schools in the country and guests of the gallery. The present nominees in the competition - Nadezhda Boyanova and Nina Vracheva, students at NHG "Tsanko Lavrenov", received diplomas and gifts from Mrs. Snezhana Yoveva-Dimitrova. All other participants will also receive special diplomas.
- The second exhibition with posters from the III National Competition "Poster - Kostadin Otonov" was presented in the park space of the National Palace of Culture (Summer Stage "Kino & Bar Cabana") in the period from July 22 to August 5, 2020.
- A video with the nominated posters from the third competition "Poster-Kostadin Otonov 2020" is broadcast in some of the metro stations of Sofia metro. The author of the video is the graduate Sahak Kasapyan, who created it under the guidance of his teacher Petar Chuchuligov.
- The first event in the city of Plovdiv was an exhibition with the posters from the Competition on the fence of NHG "Tsanko Lavrenov". The exhibition was shown in the period from September 19 to October 14, 2020 and was realized under the project "Youth Messages to the World in the Language of Poster Art". The project received approval and subsidy from the Municipality of Plovdiv under Component 3. Civic Activity. The main idea of ​​the project is to show the competition posters in different places in the urban environment of Plovdiv, so that the public is acquainted with new perspectives and contemporary visual expression, typical of future artists.
- The second exposition with the competition posters was organized in Plovdiv, which were displayed on the fence of NUMTI "Dobrin Petkov" in the period from October 15 to November 14, 2020.
- On November 27, 2020, all posters will be displayed in the building of AMTII "Prof. Asen Diamandiev".
- From December 7, 2020, Plovdiv residents and guests of the city will be able to see twenty competition posters in Tsar Simeon's Garden.
